At all times we have used the treasures of nature, enriched by artists to decorate the human body. Jewellery in various civilizations had originally a more symbolic than esthetic feature.

We all know that Peruvian jewelry has a great tradition from the Inca Empire and is the story of that glorious period, which inspires Mercedes Lamborelle to develop new designs that blends the ancient with the contemporary. She selects and create unique pieces of art expression and in line with international standards concerning designs and quality.

She designs and produces 950 silver jewelry with semi-precious stones such as: amazonite, chrysocolla (Peruvian turquoise), lapis-lazuli, Andean opal, rhodochrosite, serpentine, sodalite, and the spondyllus, Inca sacred shell.

Mercedes Lamborelle, investigates the symbols, signs and meanings of drawings, shapes and stones of pre-Hispanic cultures. Each piece has an investigation, a meaning and a connotation through semi-precious stones. We also work with various distinguished designers and goldsmiths. For this reason we can say that we produce jewellery with history.

Silver & Gold

Silver is traditionally associated with the moon, while gold is identified with the sun.
The hierarchy between the two precious metals probably comes from the fact that gold was used by the Incas and the Kings.

The countries largest producers of silver following the discovery of the New World, were Peru, Mexico and Bolivia. Currently, Peru is the second largest producer of copper and silver and gold sixth. The world silver production amounted to 10,000 tons, which are operated mainly in Mexico, Peru, Canada, USA and Australia. Combined with small amounts of other metals, including increased strength, silver jewelry is mostly 925, a title that is a 0.925 silver alloy copper by 75 thousandths. However, our artists and goldsmiths work with a 0.950 alloy for greater brightness and beauty and keep the white silver.

Since ancient times known as an ornamental metal suitable for use currency exchange to be the most malleable and ductile of all metals.

Spondyllus is known as the sacred shell of the Incas and is found on the Ocean Pacific coast, specially in Ecuador and in Peru. They are red, orange and violet. It was a appreciated mollusk because it was very strange and its appearance on the coast allowed to know the direction of ocean currents. The Inca regarded it as a natural object curious and very beautiful. For this reason we used in jewelry and metalsmithing. The red color of the shell was the most appreciated and became the symbol of POWER.
The INCA Collection use the SPONDYLLUS in most of the necklaces and pendants.
